Advantageous Android Phones-The Google G0 Concept Pushes Convenience With Style

Hopping on the android bandwagon is this new Google Android phone concept. Dubbed the Google G0, this sleek new smartphone is fully Google customized beyond any Android phone currently out on the market.
It features futuristic touch screen capabilities that make it extremely convenient to operate (you know, just like a Blackberry…yeah right) and there will be pre-installed Android and Google Chrome buttons on the interface.
It also rocks an LED light meant for phone activity indication that includes battery life notifications, incoming calls, etc. It looks like Android might be rapidly slipping its way passed the likes of the Blackberry AND the iPhone.

Ergonomic Cell Phones Edit The 'Balance of Communication' Concept

Ergonomics take center stage with the ‘Balance’ cell phone concept. It seems to me that cell phones are built rather than designed, and the way they fit in your hand has taken second place to size and technology; get the buttons in, make lots of them and put them in the tiniest space possible.
The ‘Balance of Communication’ by Heikki Juvonen is just that; it has all the heavy parts of the phone placed in the area where the nicely sized keypad is. There is a ridge in the middle for you to securely hold the piece, above which the screen area narrows slightly, creating a lightweight upper section and allowing for a perfectly balanced form when held.
The shape of the ‘Balance’ handset is very futuristic and from the side perspective, almost reflects the shape of an athletic shoe.

iPhone Beds- Let Your Baby Charge & Relax in Style With the iHammock

The whole smartphone phase has put this huge weight on the importance of business as it pertains to these devices. I think people need to relax, and in turn, let their phones relax. Cue the iHammock.

The iHammock is a small and quirky concept for a docking system that is the perfect little paradise for your coveted iPhone. The design shows an easy assembly that features a base, a hammock and even little umbrellas to block the sun.
It’s about time we stop putting so much weight on these amazing little devices and offered them some time to chill out in some shade!

I’ll take two.

$310k Vertu Phone-Diamonds and Emeralds and Rubies, Oh My!

If you have to ask… $310,000.  The Vertu signature “Cobra” phone is a little more special that what you’re using.  The phone is encrusted with a cobra of diamonds, rubies and emeratds.  Totally worth it!

The Signature Cobra is a luxurious cellphone encrusted with precious rocks by French jeweler Boucheron and it cost $310,000 USD. Why? The Signature Cobra is a ritzy gadget made from one pear-cut diamond, one round white diamond, two emerald eyes and 439 rubies. If you can’t afford the $310,000 model a cheaper version is available for an affordable $115,000 USD. Thanks to the discount, .5% of the world’s population can now afford it. Vertu, the luxury phone company that creates and markets the Signature Cobra, is now taking orders which are currently limited to 8, but only 26 Signature Cobras will be made for the lucky few who make that decision.

Diamond Encrusted Phones- New Goldvish Illusion

Kinetic Cell Phones-Ulysse Nardin Creates Eco-Friendly Mobile Technology

It was only a matter of time, and time is what inspired Ulysse Nardin to create a smartphone that runs on the “kinetic energy engine” that powers wristwatches.
There isn’t a lot of information on this other than it will be launching at the Hall of Dreams at BASELWORLD between March 26th and April 2nd, 2009.
Don’t expect this to be cheap. Typical Ulysse Nardin timepieces are in the five figure range—before the decimal point.
Ulysse Nardin is really good at making luxurious watches and I don’t understand why they need to make phones, but then, it’s all about going green. The renowned Swiss watchmaker has now partnered with the European firm, SCI Innovations, to create a hybrid smartphone called Chairman

Double-Sided Mobiles-The Blackhole Phone's Design Allows for a Large Display & Keyboard

Most mobiles out there (with the exception of the iPhone) either feature large displays or large keyboards, but never both. The Blackhole Phone is a texting-lovers dream, as it provides users with ample display areas and large-sized keyboards.
With the Blackhole Phone, users read text messages on one side that features a full-screen display and flips over to reveal and a complete keypad with a smaller display to write text messages. The mobile uses motion-sensing technology, much like the one used on the iPhone, to detect when the phone is being flipped over.

Cell Phones for Diabetics- The Infopia LG Glucophone

Technology on cell-phones is more than fashion forward. The company Infopia USA has the patent for a glucophone.
This LG phone has a glucometer built in. The phone works alongside the company’s Eocene diabetic management system. Results are sent to a secure server which graphs and helps manage your disease.
Only authorized users will have access to your account.
It’s perfect for children whose parents are constantly wondering if the child tests enough, automatic texts of results can be set up, as well as reminder alarms.

Disease-Detecting Cell Phones- Scientist's Hack Analyzes Blood and Scans Cells

Dr. Aydogan Ozcan at UCLA has created a disease-detecting cell phone by hacking a Sony Ericsson w810i camera phone. Using a filtered light source, the hacked cell phone captures images of cells that are then analyzed on a desktop computer.
According to Wired, Ozcan’s technology allows the hacked cell phone to detect specific diseases like malaria or count CD4+T cells to monitor an HIV patient’s health.
Currently, Ozcan’s software for analyzing the images must be run on a desktop computer, but his plans include loading the software into a hand-held device that could provide both imaging and analysis on the spot. This could not only improve turn-around time for diagnosis at the doctor’s office, but could revolutionize diagnostic medicine in third-world countries where labs are as scarce as the money to equip them.

Religious Figure Phones-Golden Buddha Mobile Packs Supreme Smartphone Serenity

Now I can’t promise that this Golden Buddha cell phone will help you find inner peace, but I can promise you’ll be turning heads left and right every time you use it.
The Golden Buddha cell phone was designed by Chinavision (no high-end stuff to back this product up with) and features a 24k gold plated finish that is designed as “the single best phone for the successful businesswoman that wants to announce her elite status to the world.”
I wouldn’t think a Golden Buddha cell phone would do that, but I will say I wouldn’t hesitate to pull out this baby to show off to the world. It comes in at a whopping $1,877 (CAD).

Gilded Gadgets-The 24K Gold iPod and iPhone

There is an unwritten law of popular culture that states that no gadget, no matter how cool it looks when it is released, must be left stock; these gold iPods prove this point quite succinctly.
Goldstriker International is a UK-based company that basically gives your iPod or iPhone the Midas touch in rose, yellow or white 18K and 24K gold. Although you can purchase a brand new gold iPod or iPhone, Goldstriker will also take an iPod or iPhone you’ve already purchased, encase the gadget in gold and get it back to you in 48 hours. Because of the wide range of golden possibilities, prices range from £60 to £823.

Vertu’s newest phone is the limited edition Ascent Ferrari 60. What’s great about Vertus isn’t that you can hear all your music or have a high resolution display—it’s the price and the prestige of ownership of this Nokia division that made it really take off. The Ferrari-themed handset feature a shift gate on its backside. The $26m000 phone also comes with an elaborately fashioned storage box, a Vertu Aerius headset, and an actual valve out of a Ferrari F1 car. Vertu Accent $4000 Luxury Mobile Phone

In 2002, Verty introduced the Signature, a $20,000 platinum finished luxury phone that matches your Bentley.  In case you’d like to pair a luxury phone with your sporting attire, Vertu has now launched a sporty leather and liquid metal mobile phone priced at $3,850.  The phone is designed and marked like a race car.  Check out the description from Vertu’s brochure:
"V E R T U – B O R N F R O M O B S E S S I O N
Vertu was born from an obsession to create a personal communication instrument that deployed craftsmanship and technology in a way that had never been achieved before.
They took the finest materials from the world of watchmaking, automotive, aeronautics and jewellery. They then made them even better, to come up to Vertu’s exacting standards.
A S C E N T – C RA F T E D F 0 R P E R F O R M A N C E
Inspired by the design of classic sports cars, the Vertu Ascent is as tough as it is elegant. Twice as many hours went into the research and development of the Vertu Ascent than goes into
a modern Formula One racing car.
The Liquidmetal® chassis is flexed under 55 kilograms of pressure to check for elasticity and ‘return to form’ in the event of it being dropped.
Specially developed silicone mouldings under the leather at each corner protect against wear and tear. The leather is tested for its resistance to everything from petrol to lipstick.
Each key is micro perforated by laser – over 575 holes are drilled in a single keypad, to create the effect of light shining through solid steel. In fact, every component in a Vertu Ascent is crafted for performance.

"O2" Designed by Tjep Design - - Molecular Handset Concept

When we showcase concept phones here on CB, we instantaneously understand that words will merely irritate you readers and it is the images which you wish to perceive. We sure regard your whimsies but a couple of lines shouldn’t bother you much. The molecular handset concept has been designed by Tjep Design and is based around a bunch of cells glued together using the ‘power’ that binds the atoms-all symbolic people. The phone is only good for taking calls and texting and nothing more but we still appreciate the freshness of thought.

"Sharp PC-Z1" Known as NetWalker - - Mobile Internet Device

We mentioned the Sharp PC-Z1 a few days ago and now we managed to spot it in the flesh at IFA. The Sharp PC-Z1, also known as the NetWalker is a mobile internet device that has a 5 inch WSVGA LCD screen, an impressive 10 hour battery life, instant ON and 1 14mm pitch full QWERTY keyboard.

The NetWalker runs the Ubuntu Linux operating system that runs fairly light on system resources. Technical spec wise it has 512Mb of RAM and runs an 800MHz Arm Cortex-A8 processor. The device measures 161 x 109 x 20-25mm in dimensions and weighs just 410g.

For storage the NetWalker relies on integrated flash memory that has a capacity of 4GB. The mini 5 inch LCD screen also has a decent resolution of 1024 x 600 which isn’t too bad for a small-ish screen. The screen is backlit by LED.

It’s ideal for those wanting internet and email access while on the go and it includes wireless LAN at b/g speeds as well as an SD card slot allowing memory to be bumped up a further 16GB.

Rather than using a touch-pad found on most netbooks and laptops the Sharp PC-Z1 instead uses an Optical Point that sits to the top right just above the keyboard. This is basically an optical track pad. The left and right buttons can be found to the left of the keyboard above the QWERTY side.
It will be launching soon and cost between $400 and $500.

Diagnonally Sliding Mobiles

The DYA Cell Phone is a diagonally sliding mobile that changes the way we receive and make phone calls.
When not in use, the DYA Cell Phone slides back into a compact iPhone-esque shape. It also features unusually shaped round bubble buttons that give this concept phone a futuristic look.
DYA also has an elastic paint to help prevent damage.
