Motorola Android Phone Cliq Unveiled

Motorola’s first Smartphone, which runs on Google’s Android OS, was unveiled on Thursday. This unveiling is an opportunity for Motorola to regain it position among the world's top cell phone manufacturers.
 
Cliq, as the device has been named, will be available in US by 2009 end via T-Mobile. According to Sasnjay Jha, the CEO of Motorola, This touch-screen phone will provide the users with MotoBlur, a new service from Motorola, which will the users in synchronizing messages and contacts.
 
"MotoBlur makes text, e-mail, Facebook, Twitter feeds and photos from sources like MySpace, Gmail, Yahoo and corporate e-mail appear in a single stream and sync them together with no different logins," Jha said. "This means you can focus on what people have said instead of how and where they said it."
 
The Cliq comes with a full, slide-out keyboard, a 5-megapixel camera and will provide the users with access to all the Google applications which can be accessed via Android OS.
 
The phone, which will be known under the name of Dext in overseas markets, will soon be launched in France, Britain and Latin America. The details regarding the cost of the phone have not been disclosed.
 
The integration of social networking with phones can give Motorola a hold to fight with its competitors.
 
The launch of Smartphones had proved to be very hard for Motorola. Motorola had launched Razr, which had been the best mobile phone during the earlier part of this decade.
 
Jha has disclosed that Motorola in now focussing to manufacture mobiles which will bring about a revolution in the mobile phone markets. He said the Cliq was crucial to the company's recovery.
 
"It's a very important starting point for us," Jha said. "I see smartphones as the future of computing. If it doesn't fit in your pocket, I don't think it's going to be a relevant device."
