10 September 2009 The Nokia X Series of phones first appeared in an announcement on September 2, 2009. Although no explanation was given, it was clear that the X phones were music-centric and therefore would be seen as succeeding models in the XpressMusic line.
Of course, if no further 5xxx phones are announced in the XpressMusic line, then it would serve to reason that the X Series of phones will replace the 5xxx line of music phones. As of today, only two have been announced, the Nokia X3 and X6.
Nokia X3 (due 2009 Q4) (115 Euros)
2.5G EDGE, Slider, 3.2 MP Camera, 46 MB Memory + Micro SD (up to 16GB).
The Nokia X3 is the first Series 40 Ovi Store-enabled device. The Nokia X3 is a sleek and compact music device that comes with stereo speakers, built-in FM radio, and a 3.2 megapixel camera.
Nokia X6 (due 2009 Q4) (450 Euros)
3G HSDPA 3.6Mbps + 802.11 b/g, Candybar, 5.0 MP Camera, 32 GB Memory.
The Nokia X6 is a powerful entertainment device, combining 32GB of on-board memory with a slick 3.2" finger touch interface.
