A fully featured smartphone with two very special things to set it apart from the crowd: a huge, ultra-bright touchscreen, and a large-buttoned slide-out QWERTY keyboard. The perfect phone for someone who will be taking full advantage of all the internet, emailing and media playback functions this handset has to offer. Look and Design

The screen itself is the main attraction here. Utilising AMOLED technology, this 3.5” screen is not only clear, crisp and bright, but it because it doesn´t require a backlight, it won´t sap your battery life even if you´re a keen user of things like the video player. Previously, a day´s commute to work and back watching some hi-res video might have made you question whether your phone would survive the rest of the day´s tasks, but with the AMOLED screen on the Omnia Pro B7610, you can be confident it will be more than up to it. Not only that, but you´ll be pulling jealous glances from everyone around you as this screen really is something to behold.

Because of the large screen, this obviously isn´t a small phone – probably something best suited to carrying in a bag or jacket pocket rather than a pair of jeans. Nevertheless, Samsung have managed – again with the help of the thin technology of the screen – to keep it still relatively slim at just 16mm (full dimensions are 113 x 58 x 16mm). When you consider that this includes the slide-out keyboard (which doesn´t feel at all flimsy when you´re using it) you´ll realise how truly impressive that figure is.

The final thing to note on the look is that the phone also features two modes, or two choices of UI (User Interface). One´s called “media” and is obviously for times when you know you´ll be bouncing between the music player, video functions and camera, while the other is the “pro” mode, for all your more business-like options (email, diary, etc.). You can switch between the two modes at the press of a button though, so don´t worry about it being too complicated. 

Functions

Running Windows Mobile 6.5, this is a great phone to slide and scroll between all the typical smartphone functions. With 3.5G support, Bluetooth, GPS, WiFi, FM radio, 5 megapixel camera and a host of other features, this phone has a great deal going for it. It also comes with a reported 800mhz processor, one of the fastest around on mobile devices, meaning there´s no danger that all this functionality will prove too much.

This is definitely one of those handsets that tips over from the “phone with extras” into the “mobile-computing” arena, and we don´t doubt it´s going to be a solid choice if this is the kind of options you want to have at your fingertips.
