High costs of mobile overseas shock Britishers

A recent study by uSwitch shows that mobile internet use is increasing amongst Britons holidaymaking overseas. While the numbers show only about 10 percent of UK travelers are accessing mobile internet during their travels abroad, with those on business making up the bulk of the group. The survey also shows that many travelers were shocked by the cost of using their mobile internet in another country. Because of this uSwitch is advising customers to research the cost of mobile internet use before they leave on their holiday. Although some European countries are coming together to try to put a cap on cost for Union member countries; the current costs are still much higher than most customers expect. Steve Weller, a communication expert from uSwitch stated, “When it comes to taking a mobile phone abroad on holiday, consumers have to know before they go if they don’t want to be hit with unexpected charges.” These issues are particularly important now, as most holidaymakers are looking for anyway to stretch their holiday pound. With fewer UK travelers going abroad, and those who are trying to save money, these unforeseen costs can be holiday killers.
